Recently, in a podcast, Indian actress Nora Fatehi stated, “Feminism fu*ked up our society!” sparking controversy. While her statement isn’t entirely accurate, there’s truth to it. Let me explain..

In the past, women were confined to the home, denied education, work, and autonomy. While the traditional gender roles seemed functional externally, issues like child marriage, domestic violence, and dowry issues happen internally. Feminism emerged as a response, advocating for women’s rights and opportunities. Through legislation and education, women gained independence and access to jobs. To address the inherent disparities, early feminists emphasized equity over equality.

Whereas equality means providing the same to all, Equity ensures fairness and equal opportunities for all, acknowledging that not everyone starts from the same place. Modern feminists strive for gender equality, though “pseudo feminism” undermines this by seeking female dominance, contrary to feminism’s goals. This distortion creates confusion, as seen in Nora’s remarks.

feminism does not fu*ked up our society but some so called feminists does.

The exact goal of pseudo-feminism is female dominance. These kinds of feminists use feminism as a weapon for their self-benefits. Achieving another dominance, rather than equality, is an ultimate failure. Female dominance in the future is not a solution to male dominance in the past and present. Pseudo-feminists make feminism a much more sensitive and toxic content.
